Skinny Detox for the New Year

It is already 2018 and I need to do something new with my life. I decided to have some new routines and hobbies. I also reflected and assessed what I have done last year and the only thing I can think of that I want to somehow change is my eating habits.

So to start with a clean life and clean living, I decided to clean my body first by doing detoxification. I searched for a detox tea in the internet and I found Skinny Detox Tea, which claimed to be effective in losing weight and cleansing the body even if you eat anything. It also claimed that Michelle Gumabao, famous athlete/celebrity has used it and liked its effectiveness.

Body detox is effective but there are really painful consequences during the process. For Skinny Detox tea, it is recommended to take the tea twice a day (30 minutes before lunch and before going to bed) but I just use it every night because I often forget to prepare it 30 minutes before taking my lunch. The tea tastes great too, so no problem with me because I am really a tea lover. Even if you do not like tea, the taste is really okay.

For the first week, I felt minor stomachaches especially in the morning. Good thing we have a private toilet in the office so every time I need to let the toxins out, I just go there and do my thing. I guess this is very inconvenient for people who do not have private toilets in their offices. The smell and the number of times you go to the toilet is a problem so it should be a private one. Be sure to be ready with your toilet paper and air freshener.

After the dreaded first week, I think my body has adjusted although there were still stomachaches but not that much. The frequency of going to the toilet is reduced, depending on the oiliness and the amount of food you have eaten the night before.

Overall, I felt a little lighter and not bloated. I hope to continue this after the 56 pieces I bought so that I will be totally clean.

Extraordinary Learning in Pole Fitness Academy

When someone speaks about fitness, it often refers to activities such as working out in the gym, doing yoga, pilates or zumba, or being serious in jogging or running. It is seldom suggested to do pole dancing or aerial silk because, honestly, the studios offering these courses are not that many.

But Tagumeños rejoice! Even if our city is still not that comparable to Davao City, but we already have few establishments that can be seen in Davao City like 711, Lay Bare, National Bookstore, Toys R Us, makeup and cosmetics stalls in malls, clothing and shoes boutiques, cinemas, restaurants, cafés, and not to mention the Krispy Kreme stall in Gaisano Mall. We also have hotels and gyms that offer state of the art services. Yes, we are improving indeed.

And one of the latest highlight in Tagum City is the Pole Fitness Academy where it offers pole dancing, aerial silk and yoga. It is located at the National Highway besides 711 in Tagum Doctors Hospital, the one with floral painted gates. So easy to locate! It also has a power hoop where one can practice strength and toning. I enrolled and was excited to have new experiences. I contacted Chaka and asked for my schedule.

My first experience was…. I was nearly out of breath! The warm up includes stretching and pushups. Honestly, I really had a difficulty carrying my weight so I cannot perform the pushup correctly. But still, I tried and did just 3. Warm up was already tiring. But I felt it was already an achievement.

I wore pole shorts and a sports bra. I am not used to wear these things so I was conscious at first but eventually got used to it because the bare skin will sustain me up in the pole. And believe me, you will forget that you are almost naked when you are doing the tricks. It was haaaarrrrdddd! First session got me bruises. Some noticed it because it was violet, but for me, it was the mark of success! Hahaha.

Aside from pole dancing, I also joined the aerial silk. For the silk, you can wear a shirt and leggings to avoid friction and being cut by the silk. Of course, it was also difficult. You have to have strong arms to hold the silk, and a technique to climb up there. I felt I was going to fall on the floor, but amazingly, I was able to endure holding it for several seconds and did the tricks.

Whew! I am a slow learner so for the next 2 weeks, I only performed few tricks both in pole and in silk.

What can these activities do? It can improve muscle tone, coordination, flexibility and strength. It was really effective for me, I am not that graceful in doing the tricks though. So the next time you want to experience a new way of fitness routine, try pole dancing and aerial silk.

What’s more exciting is the recital! Yes, there is a recital to showcase the tricks and moves you have learned and coordinate it in 2 or 3 songs. This is the first ever recital of Pole Fitness Academy.

I live my life trying and exploring things everyday. I want to experience things because through experience, I can learn a lot, especially the trends in diet and healthy lifestyle.

Few months ago, I am into a calorie-counted diet and I love it. It made me slimmer and many people really saw the change. I shared this secret to my friends and some of them liked it. Others did not like it because they don’t like tofu or the food is not enough to fight their hunger. They are not that ready to eat less. But that’s okay.

Then just one day, I found out from a friend that there is someone in Tagum City that prepares food for those who prefer to eat with no meat. Her name is Chaka and she is vegan for years. Not just that, she is also a pole dance and a yoga instructor.

I got interested with her food and I signed up. I think it’s more than a month now that I am availing her healthy no meat food for breakfast, lunch and dinner from Mondays to Fridays. Here are some of her food.

I want to eat less meat and more veggies, or meat substitutes. I want to continue this kind of lifestyle, so now I want to know how to cook meatless dishes. I think I want to learn and practice healthy living seriously.

On Healthy Diet: Calorie Counted Meals

I have been into many weight loss attempts like having protein shake as a meal substitute or doing back-to-back yoga and zumba exercises with a little running when there is ample time. Although there is really some pounds off my weight, but I feel like I need a healthy yet effective weight loss regimen to suit my busy schedule. I am quiet busy with so many things that I do not have time to do exercise.

Then a friend told me to try the calorie counted meals by I am Sexy Chef. They offer lunch and dinner delivered at your doorstep from Mondays to Fridays. Lunch and dinner has a total of 700-750 calories.

I was hesitant at first. The food is not as tasty as what I usually eat. The sight of tofu makes me want to quit. But when I finished a week of these low calorie meals, I felt great and I continued. I am now on my 2nd month of eating these healthy meals. I now enjoy vegetables, oats, gluten-free pasta, quinoa grains, brown rice, wheat bread and…tofu!

Since I want to lose weight because I am getting old, my daily activities don’t require much movement and I just want to be healthy, having these calorie counted meals made me more disciplined in terms of food choices. I stopped eating pork since November of 2015 and today, I avoid sweets, too starchy food, coffee, cola and fast foods. Although my other reason for avoiding these food is that I cannot afford to buy them anymore, because I am spending 1,300 pesos a week for these lunch and dinner.

Of course, there was a tremendous change in almost 2 months. I lost 4 kilos. It may seem small, but people really noticed the change in me. I am happy with the results because I am losing weight yet eating healthy.

The North Face Mountain Challenge

Running a seven-kilometer trail is such an accomplishment for me, and having a finisher’s medal, too! It was an honor for me to be part of The North Face Mountain 7KM Trail Challenge.

Me and my husband were informed by our organizer-friend, Dax Ang and Erwin Emata, the famous Filipino Mt. Everest climber, to join this event. Since it is just in Davao City, we joined this prestigious and challenging event.

At first, it was just easy but as the trail goes on, it was hard. There were lots of obstacles – fallen branches, trees, boulders, slopes, and water that made the way slippery, but I was just going slow so as not to fall or slide. It was hard yet it was fun!

Our goal is to finish earlier so that we can get the finisher’s medal with The North Face logo printed on its sling, but we were not able to arrive to join the top 80. But then, all participants who arrived beyond that were given the medal but those with plain sling. And that’s just okay with us. I had my first medal from running and outdoor adventure! Cool. I also got the Banana Boat Sun Protection in sachet as their giveaways.

It was indeed unforgettable. Exploring the other side of Davao City – the mountainous yet residential parts of it – is quiet amazing! Davao City is really big. I am looking forward for another adventure organized by Dax and Erwin.

A friend invited me last November 2013 to try Herbalife. She said it will make me loose weight and it is so good. I haven’t really taken that invitation seriously because one, it is expensive. The cost for the 10-day program is Php 1,350 and two, I will just do my Zumba to loose weight. It is much cheaper.

But then first week of January came and another friend invited me to her nutrition center to try Herbalife. I don’t know why, but I felt I should give it a try. So I went there.

A wellness coach greeted me and started to explain what the nutrition club is all about. She also checked the health state of my body. Of course, not surprising to know that I am overweight and my metabolic age is 57.

Actually, I am so desperate to get slimmer because I am getting older. I am scared to have those deadly diseases. Just out of nowhere, I agreed and signed up to the 10-day program.

Then came the 10th day. I was so nervous because the wellness coach will weigh and checked me again if there is an improvement. I cheated a lot in between those 10 days. I still eat more than one cup of rice, I ate a lot of pork, oily foods, fatty foods and junk foods. But to my surprise, I lost 2.6 kilos! My metabolic age is now 53.

With that, I was inspired to re-enroll again. If during the first 10-day program I lost 2.6 kilos with just one shake once a day, this time, I will have two shakes a day, for breakfast and dinner. I am now so serious.

I am not really depending on Herbalife alone to loose weight. I am still doing my Zumba and boxing to help me tone my muscles.

I believe in Herbalife since it has really an effect. I also bought some of their products like Mineral-Herbal Complex and Fiberbond.

I hope I will get slim and attain my ideal weight for my height and age, which is 52-56 kilos. I will not think of the expenses. I know that this way, I will not eat in fast food chains anymore just to save money for Herbalife. It is like hitting two birds with one stone.
